#Beingaleader sometimes sucks. There. I said it. It’s not always “yay, I’m a leader.” If you ask some leaders they would say it’s always bad but that’s a subject for another day.
#Beingaleader can be lonely; difficult; make you feel defeated; a constant struggle; etc. It can leave you feeling like everything rests on your shoulders or you wonder why others can’t see the vision you have painstakingly labored to communicate to them.
#Beingaleader is not for the faint of heart. I’ve said that before. So how do you deal with this reality? Here’s what I have to do: pray a lot; read a lot; and get inspiration from other leaders who have gone through similar times or situations. And keep leading. Sometime you need to regroup but you don’t quit.
You can control very little. Your circumstances are often outside of your control. How you are interpreted by your team is out of your control. Even you are often out of your control. So just keep going. Stand firm. Be resolute.
#Beingaleader is about taking the next step. Keep going. You will get through this. Eventually you will achieve the goals you’ve set before you and your team. You certainly won’t achieve them if you quit. Just don’t stop. If you keep putting one foot in front of the other you will make progress.
Were you thinking there was a magic pill to overcome the difficulties? Sorry to disappoint you. That’s the way life is. That’s what #Beingaleader is.
