#Beingaleader means you lead by example. Want a great team? Be a great leader. Want a hard working team? Work hard. Want a team that communicates well? Learn to communicate well. Want a team that serves others? Be a servant leader. Your priorities will be their priorities.
#Beingaleader means that you don’t settle for a lesser you. Improve yourself and your team will improve. “Well, that’s just the way I am” is the death tone to #beingaleader. You can get better. And with that you will make your team better. There is no reason to remain a poor communicator. Watch others. Learn. Improve. This will impact your whole team and make them better communicators if you take the time to teach them what and how you communicate.
As a reminder, @beingaleader means it’s all your fault (https://beingaleader.blog/2019/03/19/__trashed/) so if you find something wrong, fix it. And that starts with you.
Ask yourself what things you need to show more of to get more of that from your team? Sometimes you have to over emphasize something that you really want to see from them. For example, if you want your team to be more encouraging and supportive of each other than you need to be the first one to do so to them. You cannot expect them to exhibit characteristics they do not see modeled. If you do have a team member who exhibits a characteristic you want (but don’t have yourself) put them out front as an example and have others emulate that behavior. Show them that it’s important to you and you recognize it as a deficiency in yourself but you are willing to continue to grow and get better at it.
And your attitude matters. #Beingaleader means you should show grace to others. Are you calm or excitable? Do you stress or are you even keeled? Do you yell or are you low key? Attitude matters to #beingaleader. It impacts those around you and you get the same behavior back that you exhibit. So be careful.
#Beingaleader means you lead by example. So make it a good one.
