It’s a Gift

#Beingaleader is a gift. Be grateful for it. With all its headaches, stress and difficulties, #beingaleader is a gift given to only so many people. Yes there are skills you can learn. But those are a gift too. Treat it with the reverence and responsibility with which it was given.

#Beingaleader is not something that everyone is gifted to do. That’s not a statement against anyone. It’s just that we are all gifted with different things and one of the gifts received by some is the gift of leadership. What’s interesting is that the gift goes both ways. It’s a gift to you and it’s a gift for others. The whole purpose of the gift is to help others to achieve goals that they otherwise, or on their own, would not achieve.

It’s interesting to me that this gift is often overlooked by many. We see lots of gifts and talents that people have but when someone says they are a leader we often view them with a bit of skepticism or see them as bragging or wanting to overlord it over others. #Beingaleader is a critical component to making all the other gifts work. The main issue often missed by those with this gift is its purpose: which is to be a servant of others; to help them achieve what they could not on their own.

Do not squander this gift. Don’t manipulate. Don’t take advantage. Be a servant because with any gift there is accountability and you will need to show one day what you did with this gift. But also don’t treat this gift with contempt or disdain. Treat it as the gift it is. Lead with zeal. Do it diligently.

#Beingaleader is a gift. Treat it with the respect with which it was given.
