Meditate

#Beingaleader means you need time to meditate. To reflect. To focus your attention on what has been accomplished. To rekindle the ‘why’ or the joy or whatever it was that pushed you in the direction you are going. It’s what keeps you going. Keeps you from backtracking or detouring away from the goal. Course correction or simply re-energizing.

So what was accomplished this year? What has been lost? Sometimes the choices you make have good and bad implications or at least things you got to achieve and things you did not. Meditation is not a medication to keep you from thinking about the losses. It’s a method to bring perspective to both wins and losses. Own the losses. But own the victories as well.

How can you improve? Even if you did everything correctly this year, there is still room for improvement. New areas to focus on. Old areas to improve. Some areas that should be left behind and never seen again even if they were good for a time. Often the good is the enemy of the best so leave some of the good things behind so you have more energy for the better and the best.

So what would you do differently? That’s an important question but does not necessarily mean that you did anything wrong. With added experience and life exposure we would now do things differently than we did previously. That’s improvement. It’s not about worrying about the past decisions. It’s about improving them in the future.

#Beingaleader means there are times to meditate. The end of the year is a good time for doing just that.
