#Beingaleader means you have to deal with fear. Yours. And others. And on the surface there seems to be a lot to be afraid of. Stock values go down. Supply chains get interrupted. Plans get canceled. Deadlines move and shift. People fail you.
You cannot do much about things out of your control. But you can work at controlling you and helping others to control themselves. To avoid panic. Complacency. Paralysis. Destructive action.
#Beingaleader means you need to control your fear. The first place to always start is yourself. How do you react? Both internally and externally (what people see). You need to make yourself stay under control through being fact based, solutions-oriented and having reasoned emotions. If you lose it, your team will lose it. Your team might still lose it but you can bring a calming effect by what you do, what you say, and how you react.
#Beingaleader means you need to help others control their fear. Teaching someone to deal with fear is done both by showing your calming example as well as helping people deal with their real anxiety. Sometimes people just need a reassuring word. Sometimes you just need to give them a task that works the problem so they slowly calm down and see there is hope. This is not bravado in the face of danger but rather having a steely resolve in the face of potential or real panic or probelm.
#Beingaleader means you have to deal with fear. How you react will show your level of leadership. Remember: perfect love casts out all fear.
