Crisis

#Beingaleader means you have to deal with crisis. Yours and others. The actual crisis and the emotional impact that it brings. The ones that you created and the ones that just happen to you. How you deal with crisis will determine your leadership impact and potentially your longevity as a leader.

At the current moment, we are all dealing with the Covid-19 and ‘stay at home’ crisis both personally and professionally. Crisis of employment. Crisis of loneliness. Crisis of ‘stir crazy’. Crisis of emotion. Enough crisis to go around! How are you reacting? How is your team holding up?

#Beingaleader means that you not only have to deal with your own emotions in the moment but also the emotions of those around you. Attempt to calm yourself and everyone else. Attempt to give them hope. Maybe provide them with a project to work on to keep their mind off everything else. At the very least, think of these things and see what applies in your situation. Project calm in the storm. Give yourself and your team the breathing space to think about what the next steps should be.

#Beingaleader also means you also have to think ahead to after the crisis. What will change? What impact will it have long term on my business, project and team? Are you positioned to hit the ground running after the crisis is over? Or are you thinking it will be business as usual? If so, you may have squandered a once in a lifetime opportunity to make dramatic change of direction for your team.

#Beingaleader means you have to deal with crisis. Get ready for it.
