Unfinished

#Beingaleader means you are unfinished as a leader and will always be unfinished. You will never reach completion on this side of eternity. Always improving. Getting better. Content but not satisfied. If you don’t know how to lead the way you want to today, you have an opportunity to continue to grow.

Sometimes we can feel that #Beingaleader means we have to have all the answers. That we have it together. But in reality we are all learning. All in process. And we move forward at different paces and in different areas. Maturity is not really a destination but rather a journey that we are all on. And it’s not linear in nature. More circular and bumpy. Twists and turns. Steps forward and steps backward. But going somewhere.

#Beingaleader isn’t above achieving as much as it is about moving forward. Too many of us are thinking about accomplishing specific goals and less about learning along the way. Taking the steps necessary to be a better leader. Learning. Training. Experimenting. Trial and error.

So stop being so hard on yourself. And on the leaders you follow. We are in process. Trying to get better. But we’re not there yet. As long as a leader doesn’t quit, they have the potential to be a better leader next year then they are today. That’s called progress.
