Timing – Redux

I have dealt with issue once before https://beingaleader.blog/2019/12/03/timing/ but I have found it is a critical issue that needs re-raising. #Beingaleader means you need to understand the concept of timing. Knowing that you need to do something is not the last step in the process. You need to know when. When to move on from a relationship. When to put a bid on a job. When to announce a new product. The timing can be critical to your success. Timing is about knowing how to announce, when to announce and to whom to announce.

We often say we are looking for the right timing. Sometimes we say it to avoid doing something. “It’s not the right time.” It’s important to be strategic in the way you approach the “When”. Some questions to ask are: who will it impact? How will it impact them? What are some potential consequences of announcing or doing one thing now versus waiting? What is the upside of moving on it right now? What is the potential downside?

#Beingaleader means you are thinking through these issues and not just reacting the circumstances. A level head during stressful times will help you with the timing issue. Part of being proactive is to have a plan and part of the plan is the timing. Make a plan. Include the timing component and then move forward.

#Beingaleader means you need to understand timing. Make sure you know the “When”.
