#Beingaleader means you have to think independently. It means you have to come up with solutions and ideas based upon your experience and calculated risk level that perhaps others are unable or unwilling to think about.
Everything you go through as a leader is preparing you for the future decisions you will have to make. What you learn today might have a huge impact on your future. It might have almost nothing to do with a decision in the future except that it triggers a thought that provides a solution for what you are or will be going through.
Independent thinking means you cannot always be swayed by what others say. While you take input from others, the leader is the one who must make the decision. That’s what a leader does.
You have to be okay with that level of independence. For example as a parent while you may take the input of your child at varying levels depending on their age, at the end of the day you are responsible for the decision especially the younger they are. As a leader of a team you have to think independently as to what you think is best in a situation taking in all the inputs from others but at the end of the day you need to make the decision.
