Generous

#Beingaleader means you need to be generous. With your time. With your money. With your praise.

So what does being generous with your time mean? It means giving of yourself whenever possible to help others achieve their goals or the goals of the team. It means you show up when the team shows up. It means going above the call of duty to lead others by example. Giving of yourself.

#Beingaleader means you need to be generous with your money as well. This doesn’t mean give your team members money. But it does mean that generosity in terms of their salaries you can pay as well as the use of your personal money to help others. You get what you example. So if you want a generous team you need to lead by example and be a generous leader.

Oftentimes, being generous with praise is the most important component of #Beingaleader that most people need. I don’t know why we so often are wired in a different direction than this. This is not my default state. I have to work at this and be very intentional about it. But your team needs it and deserves it. Generous praise will create a sense of teamwork and loyalty.

#Beingaleader means you need to generous. So give until it hurts.
