#Beingaleader does not mean you will always have a title. Nor should you think that having such a title means that you are a leader. Nor should it be your goal. A title is bestowed. Leadership is learned and earned.
Being named CEO doesn’t make you a leader. Nor does Group Leader, Doctor, Colonel, Pastor, Bishop, or other title. It’s like the old war movies where the Lieutenant has the title but everyone listens to and follows what the Sergeant does. One was bestowed. The other earned through leading by example. Only after showing oneself worthy of following does the one with the title get the respect of the team.
What is it in our inner self that we need, desire, crave or look for a title? I think there is a level of need for validation that comes with it. Some self-satisfaction. That’s all well and good. But that doesn’t make you a leader. You should strive to lead first and let the titles come or not.
#Beingaleader is about leading not ordering. Seeking the best for the whole not just for you as the individual. This is the distinction I make between leading and commanding. Leaders have people who voluntarily follow. Commanders have people who follow by compulsion.
#Beingaleader is not about having a title. Stop seeking validation from a title and just lead.
