Baggage

#Beingaleader means you have to deal with baggage. Sometimes your own. Sometimes others’. Either way you need to know how to deal with it or get rid of it before it drags you down.

What does your baggage look like? Is it emotional? Bad experiences? Each one of us is a compilation of experiences, good and bad. The issue today is how do you deal with those experiences? Do you either integrate them into your life positively or do you heal from difficult experiences? Either way you need to make yourself as balanced and strong a person as you can.

But what does others’ baggage look like? They too can have emotional or bad experience baggage. Sometimes it’s also personality, belligerence, family situation, etc. Many of which will be unknown to you but you still have to deal with the results. In a team environment you can provide sympathy in the right circumstances. Recognition in others. Grace in others. But in the end you have to decide whether the positives outweigh the negatives in your team environment. Sometimes the removal of one toxic person makes everybody on the team more productive and happy.

Sometimes the baggage is the people themselves. People that bring you down. Keep you from moving forward. They’re just always negative. Sometimes it will be necessary to jettison the people themselves from your life or team to really be successful. This can be really hard. And often you can’t explain yourself. But don’t be afraid to honestly assess and then take action as needed.

#Beingaleader means you have to deal with baggage. Carry forward only those things that make you stronger.
