Spending

#Beingaleader means you need to understand the importance of spending. Specifically, money. Spending to make things happen that need to happen. Spending to procure the right talent. Spending to make progress on your project.

Too many leaders are spendthrifts and therefore not wise with money. Read that again. How can it be wrong to save money? Well, if you aren’t willing to spend the money to get the right people on your team you will fail. If you’re not willing to spend the money to get them the right materials or training they need you will fail. If you’re too concerned with saving money that your team doesn’t feel appreciated you will fail.

So perhaps the log jam on the fulfillment of your ideas is your unwillingness to spend money. Perhaps the reason your talent retention is so poor is that you’re too stingy with money.

Start thinking long term regarding spending. Short term thinking on money will often lead you to the conclusion that you should not spend it. That might in fact be the most unwise thing you could do for the success of your team.

#Beingaleader means you need to fully understand the power of spending. Spend it wisely.
