#Beingaleader means you have to be a problem solver. It can be personnel issues. HR issues. Cost issues. Satisfaction issues from internal or external sources. All of these will eventually land on your desk at some point as a leader. And what are you expected to do with these problems? Solve them.
Everyone has them. Everyone is a problem haver. Only a few are problem solvers. As they say, if it was easy, everyone would do it. True in this context as well. Problem solving skills come from experience. Hard knocks. Failing. Getting back up and trying something new and, hopefully, succeeding.
Problem solving is not the same thing as advice. Especially the unsolicited kind. That is often unappreciated and causes its own problems. Problem solving is being ready and in waiting for the problems to come to you. Being ready to respond to new situations. Giving help as needed and as requested.
Problem solving can definitely increase your personal value to a company, project, team etc. People are always looking for problem solvers. Why? Because everyone and everything has problems. What they need more of are people who don’t faint in the face of a problem but rather apply systematic thought and experience to solving the problem.
Problem solving does not have to mean that you’ve done this particular thing before (but it could). But most of the time you are applying knowledge and wisdom gained from experience in one area and applying the lessons learned to different circumstances and different issues to try and resolve a situation amicably.
#Beingaleader means you have to be a problem solver. Be ready with your knowledge and wisdom.
