Resilience

#Beingaleader means you need to have resilience. The ability to recover quickly from difficulty. To bounce back. To have more toughness than others have. Face trauma, stress and even tragedy without it breaking you. Seeing it all in context.

Resilience requires inner strength. I’m not saying that everyone doesn’t have their limits. Nor am I saying that certain overwhelming trauma (war, terrorism, or simply seeing things that are truly terrible that happen to people in society everyday) isn’t difficult to come back from. But in the leadership realm, we can’t let ‘normal’ trauma freeze our progress. Disappointment can hurt us but shouldn’t stop us. Betrayal can cut us but not keep us from moving forward.

#Beingaleader means you have to keep going. To learn from the experience. To come back better. Stronger. More determined. And you can build up resilience over time. By having people around you that build you up. Having a belief system that allows you to put things into context and to give you motivation for taking the next step.

#Beingaleader means you need to have resilience. Take the next step.
