#Beingaleader means you need to understand and practice sacrifice.
In order to begin to understand what sacrifice is you need to only look back 78 years to those brave young men storming the beaches of Normandy. Scared out of their minds but doing their assigned jobs anyway. Fearful but fearless all in one. Not perfect. But courageous. Doing things for others. Doing things they thought they couldn’t do. But doing it anyway. For others. Sacrifice.
To practice sacrifice means you have to do the thing that’s needing to be done regardless of how scared you are about doing it. Stepping out for others. Being first. When everyone thinks it’s impossible. And doing it anyway. Taking the hits. Counting the cost. Knowing that you might be injured or die trying but you do it so it opens the way for others to succeed. Sacrifice.
This is a missing ingredient in too many leaders. Everyone wants to be first but so that others will look at them. We need more leaders willing to be first and take the hits so that others can succeed. Be willing to look like failures so that others can win. Sacrifice.
#Beingaleader means you need to understand and practice sacrifice. Step out. Lead.
