#Beingaleader means you need to learn about distance. How close to get. How far away to stay. And when to choose between the two.

When someone on your team is learning a new skill or in a new position you need to stay close. Help them along the way. Let them watch what you do. Let them practice with you. Be able to ask immediate questions so that they are successful in what you are asking them to do.

When someone already knows what to do they need you to keep your distance. Be available for tutoring as needed but given the space to be successful on their own. To find their own way of doing things. To become a leader of their own.

When are you too close and are hovering which stunts the leadership growth of your team member? Or when are you too far away and not providing the support that your team member needs to be successful.

Well, decisions like that are part of you #Beingaleader. Hint: you will get it wrong sometimes. Practice does indeed get you closer to perfect.
