#Beingaleader means you need to work to your strengths. Identify them. Use them. Grow them. Share them with others. We too often focus on our weaknesses. We should not forget to work to our strengths most of the time so that we can actually accomplish what we set out to do.
So, are you able to identify your strengths? What areas have you been successful? What situations seem easy to you while others find difficult? Oftentimes, we overlook these strengths because we do think they are easy to do and we assume it’s easy for others as well. Usually, this is not the case but is actually a way of identifying what you are good at or gifted with.
So, how do you use your strengths? This is almost too obvious that we miss it. We use our strengths naturally and don’t seem to have to try too hard to implement them in our projects. They just seem to happen. For example, is your strength being friendly? You just seem to be easy to talk to and easy for you to keep the conversation going. You probably don’t even identify it as a strength but it is something that others have to really work at.
Finally, how do you grow your strengths? The two best ways for me are to teach them and read material from others with the same strengths. Showing others how to do the thing you’re good at reinforces the awareness in you that these are your strengths. It helps you pinpoint the various areas where you use this strength in many different contexts. Reading how others used this strength is another good way to grow yours. Maybe they point out a different perspective on the same strength. Or maybe they show examples of how to use this strength in different contexts.
