Support

#Beingaleader means you need support. From other leaders. And you need to give it to them as well. Too many leaders go full on Lone Ranger and suffer for it. Leaders don’t just need followers. They need traveling companions. To encourage. Challenge. And provide emotional support. Seek it out. Provide it to others.

Leaders need other leaders to encourage them. Encourage. Means to provide you with courage. The meet the challenges. To meet your goals. To keep going. To continue to fight the fight even when it gets hard. Sometimes you just feel like giving up. When other leaders provide you with encouragement you can make it through the day. Sometimes that is all that is needed.

Leaders need other leaders to challenge them. If you are getting complacent or ‘settled’ in your leadership, other leaders can push you to reach further. To go deeper. They might talk to you about an issue they see. They might see new strategies and want you to participate. They might have read a book or attended a conference and know that you would benefit from doing the same. Allow other leaders to challenge you to grow and improve on your leadership skills.

Leaders need other leaders to provide them with emotional support. No one knows better what you are going through in your leadership issues than other leaders. They have lived it or are living it. They can provide some perspective for what you are going through. Perhaps provide insight into how to deal with an issue or employee or obstacle that is impeding progress. But they can provide the necessary experience to help you. And you can do it for them as well.

#Beingaleader means you need support. Seek it out. Give it out.
