#Beingaleader means you need be a radical. Or at least often act like one in comparison to others. Radical is being defined as someone with strong convictions that is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve the goal set before them.
How radical are you? How much do you want something to happen? Are you pursuing goals that are consuming you (in a good way?) What are you willing to do to make those goals/dreams happen? That’s the scale of how radical you are. And this can be different for different types of goals or spheres in your life. Maybe you are radical about family but not work. Or about hobbies and not volunteer opportunities. You set the priorities and you set how radical you want to be for each priority.
How radical do others see you as? When they look at you are they spurred on to do great things? This is not necessarily accurate about what you actually do. But often, others compare themselves to how dedicated they see the leader is and use that as a means to justify their level of commitment. Are you all-in radical? If so, then the team’s efforts will be compared to that. Are you complacent or passive? Again, the team will compare their level of commitment to yours.
So, how radical do you want to be and how radical do you want others to see you as being? The former is more important then the latter. To me, it’s more important that you actually are all-in on your goals than that others see you that way. I view the latter as just a bonus. Influence is important. But actually doing something is more important.
#Beingaleader means you need to be a radical. Know what you want and go for it.
