Accessible

#Beingaleader means you need to be accessible. To your team. To your customers. More than just an ‘open door policy’. Actually make them accessible to you.

Your team needs access to you. They need more than orders from on high. They need to see you. To hear from you. And to be open to hear from them. This last one is really key. Being able for them to be heard. Too many leaders insulate themselves from the words of others. They don’t get the input they need and so they can easily stray from their initial path. The one that brought them success in the first place.

Your customers need access to you. Sometimes these are internal customers and sometimes these are external ones. But either way, they need to be able to reach you on important things. Hear from them. Whether it’s complaints or ideas for improvement. That doesn’t mean you have to do anything. But being open to hear from them is important to that relationship.

So ask yourself: Are you approachable? Easy to speak to? Accessible? Do you give others the time of day? Are you able to respectfully listen and hear what others say?
