Teachable

#Beingaleader means you need to be teachable. You need to learn to learn from others. Be willing. Be intentional.

Let’s face it. You have much to learn. We all do. Usually the things stopping you from learning are either arrogance or complacency. Arrogance must be acknowledged before you can proceed. For complacency, you just have to decide whether you care to get better or not. If you are arrogant, people might not want to help you. If you’re complacent, no one else will care either.

So, to overcome arrogance, you must recognize your need for growth. To learn something about a process. To learn from someone else who already has the expertise. It’s really a willingness on your part to grow. You will not reach your full potential as a leader while continuing in your arrogance. You will peak. And likely fall from that peak.

Being complacent can sometimes even be harder to overcome. How does one learn to care about their own growth? Sometimes it is in seeing that others who were your peers are growing leaps and bounds and you wonder why. They are passing you by and you determine to catch up. Sometimes it’s just a recognition that time is passing you by and so are the opportunities to improve your situation. There is an end to everything. So if you want to reach your full potential, there is no time like the present.

#Beingaleader means you need to be teachable. Learn to learn from others.
