#Beingaleader means you need to find a place of sanctuary for yourself. A place of refuge and protection. This might be an actual place or it might just be a mindset you go to to protect yourself from the naysayers and critics of everything you do. A place of peace.
It might actually be with other people. It doesn’t have to be solitude. But a safe place to rest, get strong and get ready to get back into the fight. It might be a time in your chair with music that soothes the soul. It might be time with a book. It might be a walk in the woods. It could be a conversation with someone that cheers you on or perhaps just a conversation about something other than the things you’re dealing with in your leadership.
It might be just a moment. Or it could be for an hour or more. The point isn’t so much the time or the place or the activity. But rather what helps you to disconnect enough to recharge the batteries to keep moving forward. It will be different for everyone. Some things that provide sanctuary for you would be like death to me. And vice versa.
#Beingaleader means you need to find a place of sanctuary. Make regular visits.
