#Beingaleader means you will leave a legacy. It will happen. Good or bad. Long lasting or short. But you cannot avoid leaving a legacy. Whether through death or through leaving the leadership position you are currently in, you will leave a legacy.
A legacy is something that is carried forward from the activities you have done during your life that last beyond you. Carried forward. Maybe built upon by others. Maybe destroyed. Maybe forgotten. Hopefully remembered. Hopefully cherished.
It comes down to the building blocks you used to create whatever it is that lasts. The foundation that you laid for others to learn from, grow from or build on. Were those blocks things to emulate? Things to aspire to? Or were they things to avoid? Perhaps even to use as an example of what not to do?
Leaving a good legacy is like leaving someone with a gift. You have hopefully increased the success rate of those that follow after you. Your team. Your friends. Your family. You have hopefully given them a good example. And you have hopefully given them the best chance to succeed as a result of what you instilled within them. What have you been trying to create? What are the values that you bring to the table? Are they ones that will last? Are they ones you want perpetuated?
#Beingaleader means you will leave a legacy. Make it a good one.
