#Beingaleader means you need a certain amount of credibility. Do you have any? Trustworthiness. Track record. Can be counted on. Believable. Convincing. In other words, when you say something, can others rely on it? Is your word sufficient for others to believe and make decisions based on it?
Credibility is often lacking in today’s leadership environment. Lots of causes. Lots of reasons. The point being, if you have credibility, you will stand out in today’s crowd of leaders. Many leaders have had it and lost it but it can be regained. But many simply don’t try to gain it. They think that cutting corners, taking advantage of others etc. will, in the end, give them an leg up on the competition. But, experience will show that credibility is the key to your longevity and success. There may be temporary gains to taking advantage of someone or some situation, but in the end, it is fool’s gold.
Credibility is something you work at. Something you can strive for. It’s not something that you’re simply born with. You have to earn it. Others have to experience it from you. There have to be previous examples of it. And thus, you can grow it. You can have more tomorrow than you have today. Just follow through. Do what you say you’re going to do. Be someone that others can count on. Credibility.
