#Beingaleader means that you need humility. Not humiliation. Humility. One happens to you. The other is something you have. It’s who you are.
Humiliation is when you do something stupid and it turns out into a situation that embarrasses you or your team. This should be avoided as much as possible. It is something that can happen but it’s not something you should pursue.
Humility, rather, is freedom from pride and arrogance. Not believing you are superior to others. This is a key quality and creates loyalty in your team. Pride and arrogance are nasty things to have. And no one likes following someone with those attributes. Those folks tend to be bullies and their team tries to avoid them as much as possible.
But if you intentionally lay down your pride and arrogance and operate in humility, there is no end to what you and your team can accomplish. Loyalty is created and sustained. People will go above and beyond. I have seen first hand where people will do things and stay late or work extra when they feel like you treat them fairly and not arrogantly ‘lead’ them. Humility triumphs.
#Beingaleader means that you need humility. Lay your life down and see the results.
