Challenge

#Beingaleader means you constantly need to face a new challenge. Nothing gets the fire going inside of a leader than a real challenge. Without it, boredom, complacency and bad habits can form. A challenge allows you to go to new heights and not get trapped going backwards.

#Beingaleader means that you don’t shrink back from a new challenge. You face it. You even embrace it. New challenges are the life blood of innovation, excitement and accomplishment. Leaders need new challenges. They need to be stretched. They need to know what their capacity is and what they are capable of handling. They need to know how far they can go.

A challenge isn’t a negative thing. It draws out the best in a leader. It affords the opportunity for collaboration, increased learning and application of skill sets. It can be trial and error but it’s moving the team forward. In the agile vernacular, you prepare an MVP “minimally viable product” to get the ball rolling and see what might work. You don’t allow yourself to be stumped by reaching for perfection. Instead, you jump in and try something and allow yourself to build from there.

#Beingaleader means you meet the challenge. Head on. You don’t pass it off to someone else. You can face it together as a team but you don’t let someone else take the tip of the spear. That’s your position. That’s your place. That’s your spot.
