Kindness

#Beingaleader means you need to show kindness. Kindness to your team. To those you supervise. To clients. And to those others that you run into on a regular basis.

Google defines kindness as a quality of being that involves treating others with consideration, generosity, and concern, without expecting anything in return. So, two parts. Treating others well. And not expecting a return. The world could sure use a bit more of this today.

As I write this, tomorrow is the 4th anniversary of my dad’s passing. To those that knew him, he was the epitome of kindness. Even to a fault. He treated others well. He preferred them over himself. And expected nothing in return. It used to annoy me how kind he was to others. Now, I better understand its importance. And the need that others have to receiving it on a regular basis.

Kindness seems to be a lost art in the era of anonymous social media posts. Hate. Negativity and slander are the norm. Let’s all agree as leaders to show kindness to others. Maybe we can hold back the tide. At least within our ranks.
