#Beingaleader means you need to learn how to handle money. Your money. Earn it. Save it. Invest it. And spend it. I am going to start a mini series on each of these topics. Today, we will talk about earning.
One of the requirements of #Beingaleader, is that you are learning to earn your own money. Work hard. Go to school. Learn a skill. Whatever it takes. You need to learn to earn enough money for yourself and those you care for. Honestly, a lack of enough money is often a source of many of your problems. Sometimes you need to take stalk of your situation and determine whether you have a spending problem or an earning problem and make course corrections as needed. Some of you need to learn a new skill to make more money.
Many people stumble into their job or career and find out seemingly too late that it doesn’t allow us to earn enough money for our needs. That’s when a hard decision needs to be made. Do I take the time and money and energy to try to improve my situation or do I simply accept that this is my life?
But this blog is about leadership and one of the things about leaders is that they are continually learning, continually growing. Seeing problems and attempting to fix them. Lack of money can be a problem that can be overcome.
It starts with a decision. I see my lack. I acknowledge it. I seek counsel on how to improve my situation. And then I attack the problem. Maybe I learn a skill. Maybe I go to school for a period of time. Actually make my life harder now for a future payoff. Maybe I can ask for a raise. Maybe I can invest in something and build on it over time. But I need to acknowledge that I need to earn more.
#Beingaleader means you need to learn how to handle money. The first step is earning.
