#Beingaleader means you cannot be blind to what is going on. Blind to who is doing what. Who excels. Who is dragging your team down. Personal loyalty aside, you have to keep your eyes open to what is going on and who is doing what.
We probably can all relate stories of people in leadership who were blind to the activities or attitudes of specific individuals in the organization to the detriment of themselves and the organization. Part of #Beingaleader is not letting yourself go blind to those scenarios.
This means that you need to take the input of others into what could otherwise be your blind spot. People always agree that everyone has a blind spot but they don’t seem to recognize that their blind spot is, by definition, something they can’t see and they need others to see for them.
The input of trusted advisors is needed. The ability to see smoke and include there is fire present. The ability to notice how others react to that person and get a sense that everyone else might not be wrong.
#Beingaleader means you cannot be blind to what is going on. Time to open your eyes.
