Beingaleader means you will have difficulties. Of that, there is no doubt. Ice storms. Power outages. Disagreeable team members. Supply chain issues. Sickness. Unfortunately, the list of difficulties seems endless. It’s just a fact of life.
As such, you need to be prepared. Ready to take action. Proactive. Not always reactive. Reactive might work for the first time or two. After that you should have been prepared. The steps are these: what is likely to be impacted? What are my contingency plans if they occur? What can I plan for? What resources or people need to know? What’s the communication plan?
Each difficulty is unique but many of the remedies are the same. Effective communication so everyone knows what the plan is and who is to take what step. An SOP and/or training prior to said difficulty so that you can work on the kinks in the plan. An after action report when the difficulty is overcome to see what worked and what needs to be improved.
Beingaleader means you will have difficulties. Count on them.
