Stamina

Beingaleader means you need to have stamina. Not just physical stamina, but stamina to be a leader for the long haul. It is often easy to be a leader for a project or for a certain time frame. But truly beingaleader is when you view your leadership as part of who you are and not just what you do.

Your leadership can be in a variety of areas. You might be a parent. You might be a teacher. You might be a project manager. You might be a sports coach or a musician with students. There are too many areas of leadership to describe them all. But everyone requires a certain amount of stamina to create a legacy of leadership.

Stamina is really about the willingness to proceed no matter what. It’s about fighting through obstacles and prevailing in the end. It’s about going through the storm while others shrink back. Stamina is the ability to keep going when others turn back.

This life is not a sprint. Nor is your leadership. When you became a leader or it was thrust upon you in some fashion, you needed to make a decision to see the matter through. You see some people quit. They think it’s too hard to keep going. They may be inexperienced and don’t know the importance of stamina. But you’ve been at this a while. You know that you must keep going. Others are depending upon you. Others are looking to you for an example or for guidance. So, keep going. Don’t stop. You have the stamina somewhere within you. And you need to identify it and let it guide you.

Beingaleader means you need to have stamina. Simply keep going.
