Decisions

Decisions. How often do you make them? Does the feeling of responsibility overwhelm you? Being a leader means you make a lot of decisions. Interestingly enough, most decisions once made can be wrong and still not cause irreparable harm.

I would guess that 80% or more of a leader’s decisions are not critical in content but are critical in timing. In other words, many decisions are made because a decision needs to be made to keep the team or project or family moving and it’s less important what the decision actually is.

I have found that the process of decision making can cripple movement forward for many people. It’s not the content of the decision. It’s the ability to make a decision that is often paralyzing.

Why is that? I think it’s because people have different risk tolerance levels. Being a leader means your risk tolerance level is higher than the average. You see what needs to be done and are willing to take the responsibility for making the tough call even at the risk of being wrong.

Making decisions is a critical component of being a leader. You need to continue to improve this skill in your life. #BeingALeader

So true. But — I am still “scared” while I do it. ❤

  2. The more risk tolerance you practice, the more is developed within you and this process becomes less daunting! Freedom from fear is a significant result! And, your decision making abilities get better too!
