Beingaleader means you have to be an owner and not a renter. An owner is somebody who takes responsibility. An owner is somebody who takes the blame. An owner is somebody who does whatever is necessary to bring success to the organization.
We live in a day and age where it’s always someone else’s fault. We tend to blame shift so as to remove responsibility or the impact of our actions on the outcome. But an owner knows that everything that happens is their responsibility. If something goes wrong, an owner is responsible. Even if they didn’t personally do the action that went wrong they were responsible for training or creating the process or setting things in motion that led to this bad result. And an owner takes responsibility to fix it and move forward so that it doesn’t happen again.
An owner does whatever it takes. They fix things. They spend money that is needed to accomplish their goal. An owner looks for solutions and not to transfer blame. Just like in a house, while a renter might complain, an owner makes the situation better. The owner paints the wall. The owner fixes the stove. They make sure that they leave the place better than they found it.
Beingaleader means you have to be an owner. Own it today.
