Excited

Beingaleader means you need to get excited. About your people. About your process. About your work. About something.

If you’re not excited about some or all of these things, then why are you even doing them? What are you doing? Yes, sometimes you need to do things just because they need to be done. But are you ever excited about something? About how things are going? About some event? About how someone is learning a new skill or exceeding expectations?

We often forget how things used to be. What is happening now is just the new normal. Yet things might not have been like this before. Maybe you should show some excitement about what is happening instead of bemoaning what is not happening.

For example, do you know someone who is doing better today than before? But isn’t quite where you want them to be? Get excited about their progress. Show them that excitement. Encourage them with the progress that they might not even be able to see for themselves. Get excited.
