Beingaleader means you sometimes need to be late. Stay late. Think long afterwards. And know when not to adopt the new and fresh idea. Being late can be just as important as being early if you know when to do which one.
Being late means you are not always the first to leave. You stay and make sure the deal is finalized. The team is finished. The project clean up is done. You hold yourself accountable and don’t slip out the back while others continue to drive to the goal. You are the example. You are the leader. Sometimes you need to stay late.
Thinking. Continually. And long after the day is done. It’s late and you’ve still got your team on your mind. You still have questions you’re trying to wrestle with. You are still coming up with ideas of how to connect. How to grow. Who to move where in leadership. Not quitting early. Staying late.
Early adopters of the right things. But slow to change to the latest fad until it’s a proven asset for your team. Sometimes we are too quick to go first. Sometimes we should be late to the party as it were. Make sure it’s a considered move rather than a rash one.
Beingaleader means you sometimes need to be late. Stay late today.
